Featured Speaker – Darrell Johnson, Director, Minority Business Assistance Center
Darrell X. Johnson has a background in corporate finance, capital markets and business development with a broad-based experience providing corporate finance and capital market services from middle market to Fortune 500 organizations. Strengths include strong analytical, sales, business development, communications, negotiation and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to understand complex business problems, develop solutions and assess impacts of initiatives.
Currently, he is working for the State of Ohio and the Urban League of Greater Cleveland as Director of the Minority Business Assistance Center (MBAC). He is responsible for promoting the MBAC program and defining, developing and implementing required projects; arranging and scheduling as needed programs and events; originating and conducting meetings with community leaders, state and local officials, and for the overall provision and direction of professional services for small business counseling and management training to individuals, communities; public agencies and organizations.
Prior to joining the State of Ohio he worked at Department of Defense as a Financial Management Analyst his duties include planning and organizing government program budgets and providing outlines of the financial status at all levels of execution.
Darrell also worked at KeyBank in their Bank Capital Markets Group as a Vice President in the Interest Rate Risk Management Group, structuring and marketing interest rate derivative products to investment grade and middle market bank clients. In addition, he designs financial models that analyze the impact of various interest rate-hedging strategies on cash flow.
He has also worked at U.S. Bank as a Vice President in their Capital Markets Group. Performing duties in the Interest Rate Risk Management area, and the Loan Sales and Syndication area and was responsible for selling bank assets to foreign and domestic banks, as well as other financial institutions. He worked also as a corporate lender in the Financial Services Division, lending to banks, broker dealers, insurance companies and other financial institutions.
Darrell received his B.S. degree in Finance from Cleveland State University and his M.B.A. from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University.
