Featured Speaker – Daniel J. Hampu, New Ventures Manager, University of Akron Research Foundation
Daniel J. Hampu is a New Ventures Manager for the University of Akron Research Foundation (UARF), where he focuses on technology commercialization and due diligence. He provides assistance to various startup companies through financial and marketing analysis of fundamental business model considerations.
In this role, he has managed deal flow for the ARCHAngels Investor Network where more than 170 companies have presented over its more than 12 years of existence, of which Dan has been involved since 2013.
He has also been involved in the leadership of the University of Akron’s National Science Foundation I-Corps Sites program for the past four and a half years, where he teaches voice of customer and customer interviewing.
Daniel was a managing partner of the Northeast Ohio Student Venture Fund, where he helped raise $250,000 of investment capital and lead due diligence teams that funded two high tech startup companies. Through his efforts, the fund grew to include five other universities. He is now Executive Director and Vice President for the fund and sits on its board. NEOSVF has funded 14 companies to date, which have raised over $8.5 million dollars of follow-on funding.
Daniel has worked with and reviewed hundreds of startup companies. He currently sits on for-profit and non-profit boards. He has a B.A. in Business Administration-Marketing from Mount Union College and a J.D. in Law and an M.B.A. in Finance from the University of Akron. He is a licensed attorney in the State of Ohio in good standing with the bar.
